Abstract： Objective： To observe the therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine package for constipation caused by antipsychotic medicine. Methods：A total of 84 patients with constipation caused by antipsychotic medicine were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was treated with phenolphthalein tablets and routine nursing care， while the treatment group was assisted with Chinese medicine package based on the treatment of the control group. After four weeks， the improvement and the self- assessment of clinical symptoms of patients before and after intervention were compared.Results：After four weeks of treatment，the cure rate was 33.3% in the treatment group and 7.1% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). There was significant difference in the comparison of the number of cases with no defecation for three days and the dose of phenolphthalein tablets that patients took orally between the two groups(P＜0.05). After intervention， the scores of Patient Assessment of Constipation- Symptoms(PAC- SYM) in the two groups were improved，and the PAC- SYM score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Chinese medicine package can improve the constipation caused by antipsychotic medicine， which has better preventive effect and improves the quality of life of patients.
