Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Yuan-Luo point meridian-connecting moxibustion for post-stroke depression. Methods:Divided 64 cases of patients with post- stroke depression into the observation group and the control group according to random number table,32 cases in each group. Both groups received routine treatment of neurology. The control group received psychotherapy, while the observation group received moxibustion with moxa cones at Yuan- Luo points along twelve meridians, namely Yuan-Luo point meridian-connecting moxibustion. Before treatment,in the 4th week of treatment and after treatment (in the 8th week),assessed the scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NHISS),and evaluated the clinical effect. Results:In the 4th and 8th weeks of treatment, the scores of HAMD in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05). In the 8th week of treatment, the scores of HAMD in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). In the 4th week of treatment, there was no significant difference being found when comparing the total effective rates in both groups(P>0.05). In the 8th week of treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was evidently higher than that in the control group, difference being significant(P<0.05). In the 4th and 8th weeks of the treatment, the scores of NIHSS in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the scores of NIHSS in the observation group were respectively lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of Yuan- Luo point meridianconnecting moxibustion has good effect in treating post- stroke depression, which can not only relieve the symptoms of depression, but also improve partial nerve function and promote the quality of life. It is easy to operate with a short course of treatment and high compliance, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
