Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of external treatment with Toufeng cake for vascular headache. Methods： A total of 80 cases of patients with vascular headache were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group，40 cases in each group. The treatment group was given external application with Toufeng cake，and the control group was given oral administration of Toutongning capsules. Both groups were treated for seven days. The changes in the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) in the two groups were compared； the curative effect in the two groups was evaluated. Results： Before intervention， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of pain scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After intervention， the scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention(P＜0.01). After intervention， the comparison of pain scores between the two groups showed significance in the difference(P＜0.01). The curative effect in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P＜ 0.05). Conclusion：The external treatment with Toufeng cake has better curative effect than that of Toutongning capsules， and can effectively relieve vascular headache.
