Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of Jiuwei Zhenxin granules assisting sertraline hydrochloride for generalized anxiety disorder(GAD) and its effect on superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malonaldehyde(MDA) in serum. Methods:A total of 110 cases of GAD patients were selected as the research object and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,55 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sertraline hydrochloride,and the observation group was additionally treated with Jiuwei Zhenxin granules based on the treatment of the control group. After treatment,the clinical effect and the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) in the two groups were evaluated;the levels of SOD and MDA in serum were detected. Results:The total effective rate was 92.73% in the observation group and 76.36% in the control group,the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of HAMA scores between the two groups(P>0.05). After 4, 8 and 12 weeks of treatment respectively, HAMA scores in the two groups were decreased gradually(P<0.05), and the HAMA score at each time period in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of SOD and MDA between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment,SOD level in the observation group was higher than that before treatment and that in the control group(P<0.05),and MDA level was lower(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.45% in the observation group and 9.09% in the control group, there being no significant difference between the two groups(χ2=0.539, P=0.463). Conclusion:The therapy of Jiuwei Zhenxin granules assisting sertraline hydrochloride tablets has a definite curative effect in treating GAD, which can enhance the activity of superoxide dismutase, reduce the contents of malonaldehyde, and effectively relieve the state of anxiety with high medication safety.
