Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Wuhai Yingliu pills combined with levothyroxine sodium tablets for thyroid adenoma. Methods：A total of 180 cases of patients with thyroid adenoma were selected retrospectively and divided into the control group and the observation group according different treatment methods，with 97 and 83 cases in each group respectively. The control group was given the oral administration of levothyroxine sodium tablets， and the observation group was additionally treated with Wuhai Yingliu pills based on the treatment of the control group. Chinese medicine symptom scores before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Levels of insulin- like growth factor- 1(IGF- 1)， transforming growth factor- β1(TGF- β1) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in serum before treatment and after one week，one month and two months of treatments were detected. The incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was counted. Results： Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of scores of neck mass， irritability， rib- side distending pain， poor breathing and chest tightness as well as the total scores between the two group(P＞0.05). After treatment，scores of neck mass，irritability，rib-side distending pain，poor breathing and chest tightness as well as the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of IGF- 1，TGF- β1 and VEGF between the two groups(P＞0.05). After one week，one month and two months of treatments，levels of IGF- 1 and VEGF in the two groups were gradually decreased，and levels of IGF-1 and VEGF in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time point(P＜0.05)； TGF- β1 levels in the two groups were gradually increased， and the level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at the same time point(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Wuhai Yingliu pills combined with levothyroxine sodium tablets for thyroid adenoma can significantly improve clinical symptoms，reduce Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of IGF- 1 and VEGF in serum，and enhance TGF-β1 levels without any increase in adverse reactions.
