To observe the clinical effect of comprehensive treatment of external therapy in Chinese medicine for scapulohumeral periarthritis in adhesion phase.Methods：Divided 96 cases of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis in adhesion phase randomly，48 cases in each group.The treatment group receivedacupuncture combined with manipulative reduction and stains collapse of Chinese medicine，wax therapy and other comprehensive treatments of external therapy in Chinese medicine，while the control group received simple acupuncture therapy.One course of treatment lasted for seven days.After treatment of six courses，compared score of shoulder function activity(Melle)and clinical effect in both groups before and after treatment.Results：The total effective rate was 93.75%in the treatment group and was 79.17%in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05).The total effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group.The Melle score in both groups was lower than that before treatment，differences being significant(P ＜0.05).After treatment，the Melle score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion：Comprehensive treatment of external therapy in Chinese medicine has significant effect on treating scapulohumeral periarthritis in adhesion phase，whose effect is superior to simple acupuncture therapy.
