The long-term chronic inflammation of patients with chronic epididymitis can cause fibrosis，hyperplasia or calcification in local epididymis tissue，then influence such links as development，maturation，excretion and immunization of sperms，and eventually result in male infertility.Chinese medicine has certain advantages in treating this disease.The authors summarized the research progress in treating this disease with Chinese medicine in recent years in respect of etiology and pathogenesis in Chinese medicine， syndrome differentiation typing， syndrome differentiation and treatment， external treatment in Chinese medicine，integrated Chinese and western medicine therapy and so on，and offered an outlook on its research directions based on the analysis of deficiency.
