To observe the clinical effect of the integrated acupuncture and moxibustion regimen in treating mild-to-moderate depression and its effect on the quality of life of patients. Methods:A total of 101 patients with mild-to-moderate depression were randomly divided into the comprehensive group, the acupuncture and moxibustion group and the acupuncture group. The comprehensive group was treated with integrated acupuncture and moxibustion regimen;the acupuncture and moxibustion group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion with moxa cone, and the acupuncture group was solely treated with needling. All groups were treated once a day and twice a week. The course of treatment in the three groups was twelve weeks. Before and after treatment and one month after treatment, the scores of Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)and Short Form 36-item Health Survey(SF-36)were evaluated and the clinical effect was observed. Results:After treatment and one month after treatment, scores of HAMD in the three groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, the difference being significant(P < 0.05).After treatment, the HAMD scores in the comprehensive group and the acupuncture and moxibustion group were lower than those in the acupuncture group(P<0.05).One month after treatment, the HAMD score in the comprehensive group was lower than those in the acupuncture and moxibustion group and the acupuncture group(P < 0.05).After treatment, the total effective rate was 88.24% in the comprehensive group,82.35%in the acupuncture and moxibustion group, and 51.52%in the acupuncture group. The ones in comprehensive group and acupuncture group were significantly higher than that in the acupuncture group(P<0.05).One month after treatment, the total effective rate was 79.41%in the comprehensive group,47.06%in the acupuncture and moxibustion group, and 42.42%in the acupuncture group. The one in the comprehensive group was significantly higher than those in the acupuncture group and acupuncture and moxibustion group(P<0.05).After treatment and one month after treatment,SF-36 scores of all dimensions in the three groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).After treatment and one month after treatment,SF-36 scores of all dimensions in the comprehensive group were higher than those in the acupuncture and moxibustion group and the acupuncture group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The integrated acupuncture and moxibustion scheme hassignificant short-term and long-term effect in treating mild-to-moderate depression, and can improve the quality of life of patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
