To observe the clinical effect of point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with routine treatment for constipation after ischemic stroke. Methods:A total of 108 cases of patients with constipation after ischemic stroke were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,54 cases in each group. Both groups were routinely given dietary nursing, exercise instruction, psychological nursing instruction and oral administration of live combined Bacillus subtilis and Enterococcus faecium enteric-coated capsules;the observation group was additionally treated with point application with Chinese herbal medicine. Both groups were observed for fourteen days continuously. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Before and after treatment, the symptom scores of constipation were evaluated, and the quality of life was assessed by the Patient Assessment of Constipation-Quality of Life scale(PAC-QOL).The nursing satisfaction was evaluated by patients when at discharge. Results:After treatment, the clinical effect in the observation group was superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of constipation and PAC-QOL in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P < 0.01);the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).The nursing satisfaction in the observation group was superior to that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The therapy of point application with Chinese herbal medicine based on routine nursing and treatment measures can more effectively alleviate the symptom of constipation after ischemic stroke and improve quality of life and clinical effect of patients, with high nursing satisfaction.
