Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbal fumigation with Qufeng Tongluo prescription combined with acupuncture for facial neuritis and its effect on electromyography. Methods:Divided 80 cases of patients with facial neuritis into the control group and the observation group randomly,40 cases in each group. The control group wastreate with acupuncture on the basis of western medicine, while the observation group additionally received Chinese herbal fumigation with Qufeng Tongluo prescription on the basis of western medicine. The treatment of both groups lasted for 4 weeks.Observed and compared the quality of life(QOL)scores,Toronto facial grading system(TFGS)scores and House-Brackmann(H-B)grading,and detected the changes in R1 latency in blink reflex and amplitude of compound muscle action potential(CMAP)in facial nerve of patients in both groups. Results:After treatment, the scores of QOL in both groups were lower than those before treatment(P < 0.05), and the scores of TFGS were higher than those before treatment(P < 0.05);each score above in the observation group was improved better than that in the control group(P< 0.05).After treatment,R1 latency in both groups was lower than that before treatment(P < 0.05),and the amplitude of CMAP was higher than that before treatment(P < 0.05);each index above in the observation group was improved more significantly than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the clinical effect of H-B grading in both groups was improved when comparing with that before treatment, differences being significant(P < 0.05);the clinical effect of H-B grading in the observation group was better than that in the control group, difference being significant(P < 0.05).During treatment,no adverse reactions related to treatment occurred in both groups. Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal fumigation with Qufeng Tongluo prescription can effectively improve the indexes in electromyography and accelerate the recovery of facial nerve function with relatively high safety.
