Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Duhuo Jisheng tang combined with block therapy for the third lumbar transverse process syndrome. Methods： A total of 72 cases of patients withthe third lumbar transverse process syndrome were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，36 cases in each group. The control group was given block therapy with dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection，and the observation group was additionally treated with oral administration of Duhuo Jisheng tang based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect was observed and compared between the two groups. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) for Low Back Pain before and after treatment were observed and compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 83.33% in the observation group， and 58.33% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of VAS and ODI in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)， and the two scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion： The therapy of Duhuo Jisheng tang combined with block therapy in treating the third lumbar transverse process syndrome can relieve pain and improve the lumbar function，whose curative effect is better than that of simple block therapy.
