Objective：To observe the clinical effect of modified Wenjing tang combined with alendronate sodium tablets for postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)of kidney yang deficiency type.Methods：A total of 150 cases of PMOP patients of kidney yang deficiency type were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，75 cases in each group.The control group was given oral administration of alendronate sodium tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with modified Wenjing tang based on the treatment of the control group.Both groups were treated for six months.The total curative effect， and the levels of alkaline phosphatase(ALP)， calcium(Ca)，phosphorus(P)，estrogen(E2)，follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)and luteinizing hormone(LH)before and after treatment in the two groups were compared；the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was recorded.Results：The total effective rate was 96.0% in the observation group and 80.0% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05).After treatment，the content of ALP in the two groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment(P ＜ 0.05)，and Ca in blood in the two groups was increased when compared with that before treatment(P ＜ 0.05)；the content of ALP in the observation groups was lower than that in the control group(P＜ 0.05)， the content of Ca in blood in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜ 0.05).After treatment，the levels of E2in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，and the levels of FSH and LH were decreased when compared with those before treatment，differences being significant(P ＜ 0.05)；the level of E2in the observation group was higher than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P ＜ 0.05)；compared the incidences of abnormal blood routine，abnormal liver and kidney function，gastrointestinal symptoms and skin allergy in the two groups，there was significance in differences(P ＞0.05).Conclusion：The therapy of modified Wenjing tang in treating PMOP of kidney yang deficiency type can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and the levels of sex hormones，and with high medication safety.
