Objective：To observe the clinical effect of thumb-tack needle，polyethylene glycol 4000 powder combined with biofeedback therapy for functional constipation.Methods：Selected 102 cases of patients with functional constipation，and divided them into the control group and the observation group randomly，51 cases in each group.The control group received thumb-tack needle combined with polyethylene glycol 4000 powder，while the observation group additionally received biofeedback therapy.Observed the improvements of constipation symptoms and changes of anorectal motility，anorectal sensation and quality of life after treatment，and compared the clinical effect in both groups(P ＜ 0.05).Results：The total effective rate was 96.08% in the observation group，being higher than 80.39% in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment，the symptom scores of constipation in both groups were lower than those before treatment，and the symptom scores of constipation in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜0.05).After treatment， the rectal lowest volume of sensory threshold， the maximal volume of tolerance and rectal compliance in both groups were lower than those before treatment，and the three indexes above in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P ＜ 0.05).After treatment，comparing the rectal resting pressure and pressure in anal sphincter in both groups，there were no significant differences being found(P＞0.05).After treatment，the scores of physical discomfort，psychosocial discomfort，worry and anxiety，degree of satisfaction and the total score in both groups were lower than those before treatment，and the scores of physical discomfort，psychosocial discomfort，worry and anxiety，degree of satisfaction and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group，differences being significant(P＜ 0.05).Conclusion：The application of thumb-tack needle，polyethylene glycol 4000 powder combined with biofeedback therapy for functional constipation can improve constipation symptoms，anorectal motility，anorectal sensation and quality of life，thus to enhance the therapeutic effect.
