Abstract:Objective:To observe the application effect of personalized oral nursing with Chinese medicine gargling for patients in intensive care unit(ICU). Methods: Selected 200 cases of patients admitted into ICU of our hospital, and divided them into the control group and the observation group according to random number table, 100 cases in each group. The control group received oral rinse with 0.2% compound chlorhexidine gargling liquid and routine nursing, while the observation group received personalized oral nursing with Chinese medicine gargling. The nursing in both groups lasted for 5 days. Compared the hospitalization days in ICU,the days of endotracheal intubation, the occurrence of complications after 5 days of nursing, and the scores of oral nursing before and after nursing intervention in the two groups. Results: The hospitalization days in ICU and the days of endotracheal intubation in the observation group were obviously less than those in the control group, difference being significant(P<0.05). After 5 days of nursing, the incidences of oral odor, oral ulcer, erosion, dental plaque, fungal infection and ventilator- associated pneumonia(VAP) in the observation group were respectively lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). After nursing interventions, the scores of oral nursing in both groups were lower than those before nursing(P<0.05),and the scores of oral nursing in the observation group were decreased more obviously than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:The intervention of personalized oral nursing with Chinese medicine gargling liquidcan reduce oral complications and prevent oral infection.
