Abstract：Scutellaria barbata is a commonly- used Chinese medicinal for tumor in clinical practice in Chinese medicine，whose main components comprise luteolin，apigenin，quercitrin，wogonin，baicalein，scutellarein，baicalin and baicalein.It is widely applied for treating tumors，such as head and neck tumors，lung cancer，esophageal cancer，gastric cancer，liver cancer， pancreatic cancer， colorectal cancer， ovarian cancer， endometrial cancer， cervical cancer， bladder cancer and melanoma. Modern Chinese medicine has developed numerous clinical anti- cancer proven prescriptions containing bearded scutellaria like Tenglong Buzhong tang，intestinal compound prescription，Fuzheng Xiao'ai tang，Feitai capsules and Feiyiliu ointment. Meanwhile， there are 409 anti- cancer patents containing scutellaria barbata， some of which have been transformed into Chinese patent medicine， including Yangzheng Xiaoji capsules， Fufang Banmao capsules， Ankangxin capsules， Shelian capsules and Kang'aiping pills. The functional mechanism of scutellaria barbata treating tumors is associated with inhibiting cell proliferation，inducing cell autophagy and apoptosis，inhibiting metastasis，regulating immune function and inhibiting tumor angiogenesis. These researches have provided the basis for the appropriate application of scutellaria barbata in treating tumors.
