Abstract:Objective:To observe the improvement effect of point application combined with routine therapy for cough of community-acquired pneumonia(CAP). Methods:A total of 92 cases of patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,46 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with symptomatic treatments including antiinfection, fluid infusion, phlegm elimination, cough relief and oxygen therapy as well as routine nursing measures in clinic;the observation group was additionally treated with point application. Both groups were treated for seven days. Before treatment and after treatment for three and seven days, the symptom scores of cough and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) scores of cough were assessed. After treatment, the condition and time of zero and one point of prognosis of cough in the daytime and at night were recorded. Before and after treatment, the scores of Leicester Cough Questionnaire(LCQ) were evaluated. Results: After treatment for three and seven days, the symptom scores and VAS scores of cough in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01), and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01). After treatment for seven days, the remission rate of cough was 91.30% in the observation group, higher than that of 71.74% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The remission time of cough in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05). The scores of three dimensions including physiology, psychology and society as well as the total scores of LCQ in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion: Based on routine treatment and nursing, the additional therapy of point application in treating CAP can effectively relieve the symptom of cough, shorten the course of cough and improve quality of life.
