Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Jianpi Qingre Huatan tang for acute bronchitis in children with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing lung and its effect on inflammatory factors in serum. Methods:A total of 156 cases of children with acute bronchitis with syndrome of phlegm- heat obstructing lung were randomly divided into two groups,78 cases in each group. Based on routine western medicine, the control group was treated with Xiao'er Xiaoji Zhike oral liquid, and the observation group was additionally treated with Jianpi Qingre Huatan tang based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for seven days. The clinical effect and the disappearance time of clinical symptoms and signs in the two groups were observed and compared. Before and after treatment, the changes of Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of C- reactive protein(CRP) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) in serum in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 97.44% in the observation group and 88.46% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of main and secondary symptoms and the total scores in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05); the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the time for temperature to return to normal and the disappearance time of wheezes, cough, wheezing sound and moist rale in the observation group were significantly earlier than those in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of CRP and TNF-α in serum in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05), and the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Jianpi Qingre Huatan tang can rapidly improve the clinical symptoms and signs as well as the levels of systemic inflammatory of children with acute bronchitis and syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing lung, with significant clinical effect.
