Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of filiform fire needling combined with cupping on shoulder pain, shoulder function, pain mediators and inflammatory factors in patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods: A total of 120 cases of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with cupping, and the observation group was additionally treated with filiform fire needling based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for one month. Before treatment, after treatment for one week and one month and during three-month follow-up, the scores of shoulder pain, shoulder and Generic Quality of Life Inventory- 74(GQOL- 74) as well as the levels of inflammatory factors and pain mediators in the two groups were compared. Results:The total effective rate was 93.33% in the observation group, higher than that of 76.67% in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, after treatment for one week and one month and during three-month follow-up,the VAS scores in the two groups were decreased successively(P<0.05),and the scores of Constant and GQOL- 74 were increased successively(P<0.05). After treatment for one week and one month and during three-month follow-up,VAS scores in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group at the same period(P<0.05),and the scores of Constant and GQOL-74 were all higher than those in the control group at the same period(P<0.05). Before treatment, after treatment for one week and one month and during three- month follow- up, the content of 5- hydroxytryptamine(5- HT) and substance P(SP) and the levels of high- sensitivity C- reactive protein(hs- CRP),interleukin- 6(IL- 6) and tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) in the two groups were decreased successively (P<0.05). After treatment for one week and one month and during three-month follow-up,the content of 5-HT and SP and the levels of IL-6,TNF-α and hs-CRP in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group at the same period(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of filiform fire needling combined with cupping has definite curative effect in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis, which can effectively relieve shoulder pain, improve shoulder function and quality of life, and reduce the high expression of pain mediators and inflammatory factors.
