Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of conjugated estrogens cream combined with modified Zhibai Dihuang tang for recurrent senile vaginitis. Methods： A total of 118 cases of patients with recurrent senile vaginitis were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group， 59 cases in each group. The control group was given conjugated estrogens cream combined with compound metronidazole suppositories，and the observation group was treated with conjugated estrogens cream combined with fumigation and washing with modified Zhibai Dihuang tang. After two-week treatment，the clinical effect，the degree of vaginal cleanliness，the condition and scores of vaginal health，and the scores of vaginitis symptoms were compared between the two groups. The recurrence was recorded during six-month following up.Results：After treatment，the clinical effect in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The degree of vaginal cleanliness in the two groups was significantly improved when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.01)， and the degree in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the condition of vaginal health in the two groups were significantly improved(P＜0.01)，and the condition in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of vaginal health in the two groups were significantly increased(P＜0.01)，and the scores of vaginitis symptoms were significantly decreased(P＜0.01)；the score of vaginal health in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.01)， and the score of vaginitis symptoms was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.01). During the following up，the recurrence rate was 8.77% in the observation group， lower than that of 26.92% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The application of conjugated estrogens cream combined with modified Zhibai Dihuang tang has good clinical effect in treating recurrent senile vaginitis. In the short term， it can alleviate vaginitis symptoms， and improve the condition of vaginal health and vagina internal environment. In the long term，the recurrence rate can be reduced.
