Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of Yangxin Xingnao tang combined with ziprasidone on schizophrenia，and its safety. Methods：A total of 240 cases of patients with schizophrenia of heart- spleen deficiency type were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，120 cases in each group. The control group was given ziprasidone hydrochloride tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Yangxin Xingnao tang. Both groups were continuously treated for eight weeks. The scores of Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) and Social Skills for Psychiatric Inpatients(SSPI) before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. The adverse reactions were observed. The curative effect was evaluated. Results： The total effective rate was 72.50% in the control group， lower than that of 90.00% in the observation group， the difference being significant(χ 2=12.062， P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of PANSS in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment，and the score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of SSPI in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment，and the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 28.33% in the control group， higher than that of 10.83% in the observation group， the difference being significant(χ 2=11.668， P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Yangxin Xingnao tang combined with ziprasidone has significant curative effect in treating patients with schizophrenia of heart-spleen deficiency type，which can efficiently relieve their symptoms and improve the social skills，with few adverse reactions and high safety.
