Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of point application with Chinese herbal medicine combined with routine nursing for patients with constipation after chemotherapy for malignant tumor. Methods: A total of 86 cases of patients with constipation after chemotherapy for malignant tumor were randomly divided into two groups,43 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the observation group was additionally treated with point application with Chinese herbal medicine based on the intervention of the control group. Both groups were treated for two months. Before and after intervention, the clinical effect and the changes in interval and duration of defecation as well as the scores of Self- rating Depression Scale(SDS) and Self- rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) in the two groups were observed and compared. Results:After intervention, the interval and duration of defecation in the two groups were significantly shortened when compared with those before intervention(P<0.05),and the above indexes in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05). After intervention, the scores of SDS and SAS in patients in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before intervention(P<0.05), and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). After intervention, the clinical effect in the observation group was better than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The comprehensive nursing intervention of point application with Chinese herbal medicine in treating patients with constipation after chemotherapy can significantly improve their constipation symptoms, bad mood and the clinical effect.
