Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Suzi Jiangqi tang combined with Bufei tang for chronic asthmatic bronchitis. Methods:A total of 164 cases of patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis were selected and divided into the control group, Group A, B and C according to the random number table method, 41 cases in each group. The control group was given routine western medicine. Based on the treatment of the control group,Group A was additionally given modified Suzi Jiangqi tang; Group B was additionally given modified Bufei tang; Group C was additionally given modified Suzi Jiangqi tang combined with Bufei tang. The clinical effect, the changes in symptom scores and the lung function, the adverse reactions and recurrence rate during the follow-up period before and after treatment were compared between the four groups. Results:The total effective rate was 60.98% in the control group,80.49% in Group A and B as well as 97.56% in Group C. The total effective rate in Group C was higher than that in Group A and B,and the rate in Group A and B was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, when compared the symptom scores including cough, expectoration, dyspnea and wheezing sound between the four groups, there was no significance in differences (P>0.05);after treatment, the above symptom scores in the four groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the symptom scores in Group C were lower than those in Group A and B,and the scores in Group A and B were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, when compared the one second forced expiratory volume as a percentage of the expected value(FEV1%) and one second forced expiratory volume occupying force vital capacity ratio(FEV1/FVC) between the four groups, there was no significance in differences(P>0.05). After treatment, the FEV1% and FEV1/FVC in the four groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05). The FEV1% and FEV1/FVC in Group C were higher than those in Group A and B,and the above percentage and ratio in Group A and B were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 4.88% in the control group, 7.32% in Group A,9.76% in Group B as well as 14.63% in Group C,and when compared with that among the four groups, there was no significance in differences(P>0.05). The recurrence rate was 40.00% in the control group,24.24% in Group A and B as well as 0 in Group C, and the rate in Group C was significantly lower than those in other three groups(P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine western medicine, the additional therapy of modified Suzi Jiangqi tang and modified Bufei tang for patients with chronic asthmatic bronchitis, can reduce symptoms, strengthen the curative effect and improve the lung function. The combined treatment of the two modified tangs has better function and effect, which can significantly reduce the recurrence rate. Besides, adverse reactions will not increased.
