Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Buyang Huanwu tang combined with routine western medicine for post- herpetic neuralgia(PHN) in senile patients. Methods：A total of 76 cases of senile patients diagnosed with PHN were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method， 38 cases in each group. The control group was treated with vitamin B1 tablets，mecobalamin tablets and gabapentin capsules， and the observation group was additionally given Buyang Huanwu tang based on the treatment of the control group. After 15 days of treatment， Quality of Life Score(QLS) and the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)， T lymphocyte subsets in serum，clinical effect and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. Results：After treatment，the scores of QLS and VAS in the two groups were decreased，and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05)；the levels of T lymphocyte subsets including CD3+，CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ in serum in the two groups were increased，and the levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05)；the levels of CD8+ in the two groups were decreased，and the level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 89.47% in the observation group，higher than that of 65.79% in the control group(P＜0.05). There was no significant difference in the comparison of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Buyang Huanwu tang combined with routine western medicine for PHN in senile patients can improve the immune function，with high safety and good curative effect.
