Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Qiqiang Niubang powder combined with western medicine for prostatic hyperplasia. Methods： A total of 120 cases of patients with prostatic hyperplasia were randomly divided into the experiment group and the control group， 60 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with finasteride tablets and tamsulosin hydrochloride sustained release capsules according to their disease condition， and the experiment group was additionally treated with Qiqiang Niubang powder. Both groups were treated for three months. Before and after treatment，in the two groups，the scores of International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS) and Quality of Life(QOL)，as well as the changes in prostate volume， postvoid residual volume(PVR) and maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax) were observed and compared. Results：During treatment，there were four cases lost in the experiment group and five cases in the control group. After onemonth and three- month treatment， the scores of IPSS and QOL in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the two scores in the experiment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After one-month and three-month treatment，the values of PVR in the two groups were significantly decreased and Qmax were significantly increased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above two indexes in the experiment group were better than those in the control group(P＜0.05). As for the prostate volume， after one month of treatment， there was no significant difference being found when compared with that before treatment， nor when comparing that between the two groups(P＞0.05)； after three months of treatment， the prostate volume in the two groups was significantly decreased when compared with that before treatment(P＜0.05)，but there was no significant difference being found in the comparison between the two groups(P＞0.05). There was no abnormal condition of blood routine， urine routine， or the function of the liver and the kidney before and after treatment in all patients that had finished the experiment. Conclusion： The therapy of Qiqiang Niubang powder combined with western medicine has significant curative effect in treating prostatic hyperplasia.
