Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of modified Runchang Tongbian tang combined with tuina for children with functional constipation. Methods：A total of 100 cases of children with functional constipation were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with modified Runchang Tongbian tang，and the observation group was additionally treated with tuina based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three weeks. The clinical effect in the two groups was observed；the changes of the scores of main symptoms and the total scores of symptoms，indexes of anorectal motility and levels of gastrointestinal hormones were compared；the safety of treatment in the two groups was evaluated. Results：The total effective rate was 92.00% in the observation group，higher than that of 74.00% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of main symptoms and the total scores of symptoms in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the rectal lowest volume of sensory threshold， the rectal maximum tolerance， and the maximal systolic pressure of anal sphincter in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the above indexes in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of motilin， gastrin and gastrointestinal hormone P in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment，and the levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05)； the levels of somatostatin in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment，and the level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). During the treatment，no obvious adverse reaction occurred in the two groups. Conclusion：The therapy of Runchang Tongbian tang combined with tuina has significant curative effect in treating functional constipation in Children.
