Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Zhenhuang pills combined with tinidazole for local treatment of pericoronitis of wisdom tooth. Methods：A total of 140 cases of patients with pericoronitis of wisdom tooth were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，70 cases in each group. The control group was given local treatment of tinidazole，and the observation group was additionally given Zhenhuang pills based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment，the changes in the scores of symptoms and signs including gingival redness，tenderness and limitation of mouth opening，the extinction time of inflammation，the maintenance time of analgesia and the bacteriological indexes in the two groups were observed and compared. The total clinical effect in the two groups was evaluated.Results： The total effective rate was 94.29% in the observation group and 81.43% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of gingival redness， tenderness and limitation of mouth opening in the two groups were significant decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，the extinction time of inflammation in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group，and the maintenance time of analgesia was longer，differences being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the bacterial density and the percentage of G- bacteria in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the percentage of G + bacteria was increased(P＜ 0.05)；the changes in the above indexes in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group(P＜ 0.05). Conclusion：Compared with that of simple tinidazole，the application of tinidazole combined with Zhenhuang pills has significant curative effect in treating pericoronitis of wisdom tooth， and can better control acute inflammation， improve clinical symptoms such as pain and swelling，maintain analgesic time and inhibit bacterial growth in the oral cavity.
