Effect of Auricular Point Pressing with Magnetic Beads Therapy Combined with Routine Nursing Measures on Quality of Life in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of auricular point pressing with magnetic beads therapy combined with routine nursing measures on quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Methods:A total of 120 cases of T2DM patients with qi-yin deficiency syndrome were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,60 cases in each group. Both groups were given insulin or the oral administration of hypoglycemic medicine for controlling blood glucose;simvastatin dispersible tablets and amlodipine besylate dispersible tablets for controlling blood pressure and blood lipid;aspirin enteric-coated tablets for improving hypercoagulabale state of blood. Besides, both groups were given health education, diet guidance, exercise instruction, and other comprehensive nursing intervention measures. The observation group was additionally given auricular point pressing with magnetic beads therapy. Both groups were continuously treated for three months. The levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG) and glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) were detected per month. The standard-reaching rate of FBG and HbA1c was recorded in the two groups. The score of Diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale(DSQL) was evaluated before and after treatment. The compliance behavior was recorded. The nursing satisfaction was evaluated. Results:After one month and two months of treatment, there was no significance in differences being found in the comparison of the standard- reaching rate of FBG between the two groups(P>0.05). After three months of treatment, the standard- reaching rate of FBG was 81.67% in the observation group, higher than that of 63.33% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After one month of treatment, there was no significance in the difference being found in the comparison of the standard- reaching rate of HbA1c between the two groups(P>0.05). After two months of treatment, the standard- reaching rate of HbA1c was 68.33% in the observation group, higher than that of 50.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After three months of treatment, the standard- reaching rate of HbA1c was 75.00% in the observation group, higher than that of 56.67% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the DSQL scores of physiological function dimension, psychological or spiritual dimension, social relationship dimension, and treatment as well as the total score in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.01);the score of each dimension and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01). The compliance behavior in the observation group was better than that in the control group, and the nursing satisfaction was higher than that in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on western medicine and routine nursing, the additional intervention of auricular point pressing with magnetic beads therapy on T2DM patients, can further improve the standard-reaching rate of FBG and HbA1c,strengthen their compliance behavior, and improve their quality of life.
