Clinical Analysis on Distribution of Chinese Medicine Constitution Types and Characteristics of Tongue and Pulse Among 138 Cases of Patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome
Abstract:Objective:To observe and analyse the distribution of Chinese medicine constitution types and characteristics of the tongue and pulse among patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS). Methods:A total of 138 cases of AIDS patients who were admitted and treated in Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital from January in 2016 to January in 2018 were selected as the study objects. The distribution of Chinese medicine constitution types was counted. The correlation between Chinese medicine constitution types and clinical characteristics was analyzed. The quality of life after initial treatment was compared among AIDS patients with different Chinese medicine constitution types. The relationship between Chinese medicine constitution types and quality of life was analyzed by Logistic regression. The characteristics of the tongue and pulse of patients were counted and analyzed. Results: Among 138 cases of AIDS patients, the moderate constitution which dominantly appeared accounted for 44.93% , which was followed by qi- deficiency constitution accounting for about 24.64%;there was significant correlation between Chinese medicine constitution types and clinical stage as well as Chinese medicine syndromes(P<0.05). The total scores of psychological state, physical condition and quality of life in patients with qi- deficiency constitution were lower than those in patients with moderate constitution, yang- deficiency constitution, phlegm- dampness constitution, and other Chinese medicine constitution types(P<0.05). Among 138 cases of AIDS patients, the main tongue manifestations were as following: pale red tongue(accounting for 65.22% ), enlarged tongue (accounting for 57.25%),thick fur(accounting for 56.52%),and slimy fur(accounting for 42.75%);the irregular pulse rate which dominantly appeared accounted for 69.57%. Among 138 cases of AIDS patients, the pulse condition which dominantly appeared was as following:vacuous pulse(accounting for 74.64%),string- like pulse(accounting for 47.10%),and bound pulse(accounting for 34.06%);pulse was mainly in the middle position(accounting for 86.23%);the main pulse trend was at low level with normal pulse and vacuous pulse(accounting for 89.13%). Conclusion:The distribution of Chinese medicine constitution types and characteristics of the tongue and pulse among AIDS patients have specific rules. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, the combination of syndrome differentiation and constitution differentiation can provide patients with individualized therapeutic scheme more effectively,so as to improve the quality of life.
