Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of application of compound Shengdahuang powder at Shenque point (RN 8) on patients with chemotherapy induced constipation based on conventional medical nursing measures. Methods：A total of 116 patients with heat- accumulation constipation were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group，58 cases in each group. Both groups were given Renma pills and conventional comprehensive nursing measures. The observation group was additionally given compound Shengdahuang powder at Shenque point. Both groups were treated for four weeks. Before treatment and four weeks after treatment，the scores of main symptoms related to constipation，Patient Assessment of Constipation Symptoms(PAC-SYM) and Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life(PAC-QOL) were evaluated，and the time to return to normal defecation was recorded. Four weeks after treatment，the nursing satisfaction was evaluated by patients themselves. Results：After treatment，each score and the total scores of six symptoms in the two groups，including fecal character，laborious defecation and defecation time，were all decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜ 0.01). The scores of abdominal symptoms，rectal symptoms，stool symptoms and the total scores of PAC-SYM in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01). The scores of physical discomfort， psychosocial discomfort， worry，nursing satisfaction and the total scores of PAC-QOL were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.01)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01). The time to return to normal defecation in the observation group was faster than that in the control group(P＜0.01)，and the the score of nursing satisfaction was higher(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Based on the conventional medical nursing measures，the additional application of compound Shengdahuang powder at Shenque point to treat chemotherapy- induced heat- accumulation constipation，can significantly reduce the symptoms of constipation，shorten the course of disease，and improve the quality of life of the patients.
