Abstract： Objective： To discuss the effect of Banxia Baizhu Tianma tang combined with donepezil hydrochloride on Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) scores in patients with Alzheimer disease. Methods： A total of 120 cases of patients with Alzheimer disease were randomly divided into two groups according to different treatment methods，60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Banxia Baizhu Tianma tang，and the study group was treated with Banxia Baizhu Tianma tang combined with donepezil hydrochloride. The clinical effect， quality of life(QOL) scores， incidence of complications and scores of TESS and activities of daily living(ADL) in the two groups were compared. Results： The total effective rate was 96.7% in the study group， significantly higher than that of 88.3% in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of QOL scores between the two groups(P＞ 0.05). After treatment，the QOL scores in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P＜ 0.05)，and the score in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The incidence of complications in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of scores of TESS and ADL between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，the scores of TESS and ADL in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05). In the study group， the TESS score was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05)， and the ADL score was higher(P＜0.05). Conclusion： Banxia Baizhu Tianma tang combined with donepezil hydrochloride in treating Alzheimer disease can improve living standard， reduce incidence of complications and improve mental behavior with low adverse reactions.
