Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of XifengQingnao tang for renal hypertension and its effect on the incidence of ischemic stroke. Methods： A retrospective analysis was conducted in 109 cases of renal hypertension diagnosed， 59 and 50 cases in each group respectively； the control group was treated with traditional western medicine， and the observation group wasadditionally given XifengQingnao tang based on the treatment of the control group. The average follow- up time was 10.7 ± 2.4 months. The blood pressure， the kidney function， the incidence of ischemic stroke and adverse reactions were counted and compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， the systolic blood pressureand diastolic blood pressurein the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the decrease of the two indexes in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment， UAER and 24- hour urine protein excretion in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the decrease in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The incidence of ischemic stroke was 2.00% in the observation group and 11.86% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 8.00% in the observation group and 10.71% in the control group，there being no significance in the difference(P＞ 0.05). Conclusion： Xifeng Qingnao tang can effectively prevent the incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with renal hypertension，reduce blood pressure and improve the kidney function with better safety.
