Abstract： Objective： To discuss the effect of point application combined with auricular point sticking for essential hypertension. Methods：A total of 82 cases of patients with essential hypertension were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method， 41 cases in each group. The control group was intervened with routine medicine and nursing，and the observation group was additionally given point application combined with auricular point sticking based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after intervention，the levels of morning blood pressure in the two groups were measured. The clinical effect，Chinese medicine syndrome scores and quality of life in the two groups were evaluated. During intervention，the adverse reactions in the two groups were recorded. Results：The total effective rate was 92.68% in the observation group and 73.17% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). Before intervention，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of morning blood pressure between the two groups(P＞0.05). After intervention，the systolic pressure and diastolic pressure in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention，and the indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group， differences being significant(P＜0.05). Before intervention， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores and quality of life between the two groups(P＞0.05). After intervention， the Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before intervention， and the scores of quality of life were increased； the Chinese medicine syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group， and the score of quality of life was higher； differences being significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The application of point application combined with auricular point sticking has significant effect in treating essential hypertension，which can improve quality of life of patients with no obvious adverse reaction.
