Abstract：This paper systematically searched the relevant research on the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by navel therapy in recent ten years，and summarized the main Chinese medicine syndrome types of primary dysmenorrhea，the treatment mechanism of navel therapy，as well as the curative effect，advantages，and disadvantages of navel therapy in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. The main syndrome types of dysmenorrhea are cold congealing and blood stasis，qi stagnation and blood stasis，dampness-heat obstruction，qi-blood deficiency，and the kidney qi deficiency. Navel therapy can regulate thoroughfare vessel，conception vessel，and the uterus，and has excellent curative effect in the treatment of dysmenorrhea of cold congealing and blood stasis type with significant advantages.
