Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of the additional therapy of point massage and point pressing with beans based on routine nursing measures on pain degree and maternal- infant outcome during the second stage of labor of primiparae. Methods:A total of 130 cases of primiparae undergoing vaginal delivery were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,65 cases in each group. The main modes of delivery, namely, free position and maternal pushing, were adopted by both groups during the second stage of labor. Both groups were also given health education, mental nursing, and other measures. The observation group was additionally given the intervention of point massage and point pressing with beans. The duration of the second stage of labor and the mode of delivery were recorded. The pain degree was evaluated. The incidences of postpartum hemorrhage, postpartum urinary retention, and puerperal fever were counted. The Apgar score of infants was evaluated, and the incidences of asphyxia and acidemia of infants were recorded. Results:The duration of the second stage of labor in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the Apgar score of infants was higher, differences being significant(P<0.01). The pain degree during the second stage of labor in the observation group was milder than that in the control group(P<0.05). The rate of spontaneous delivery was 92.31% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The incidence of postpartum urinary retention was 3.08% in the observation group, lower than that of 13.85% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). When compared the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and puerperal fever between the two groups, there was no significance in differences being found (P>0.05). The incidence of asphyxia and acidemia of infants in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine nursing measures, the additional therapy of point massage and point pressing with beans can shorten the second stage of labor of primiparae, decrease the incidence of postpartum urinary retention, asphyxia and acidemia of infants, increase the rate of spontaneous delivery, and significantly improve maternal-infant outcome.
