Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of modified Yiyiren tang combined with diclofenac sodium tablets on acute gouty arthritis(AGA) with damp-heat accumulation syndrome. Methods：A total of 60 cases of AGA patients with dampheat accumulation syndrome were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with diclofenac sodium tablets，while the observation group was additionally treated with modified Yiyiren tang both internally and externally based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for seven days as one course. After one course，the two groups were compared in clinical effect，improvement of pain，and changes in the levels of uric acid(UA)，C-reactive protein(CRP)，interleukin-6(IL-6) and interleukin- 8(IL- 8) in serum. Results： The total effective rate was 96.67% in the observation group， higher than that of 80.00% in the control group， the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment， the proportion of mild pain and severe pain in the observation group was 73.33% and 3.33% respectively， and that in the control group was 40.00% and 23.33% respectively，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of UA，CRP，IL- 6 and IL- 8 in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of modified Yiyiren tang combined with diclofenac sodium tablets has a significant therapeutic effect on AGA with damp- heat accumulation syndrome，which can control the development of inflammation and relieve clinical symptoms.
