Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Bushen Huoxue Huayu prescription for mild knee osteoarthritis of liver-kidney depletion type. Methods：A total of 100 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the block random method，50 cases in each group. The control group was given oral administration of glucosamine sulphate，and the treatment group was additionally given Bushen Huoxue Huayu prescription based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for two courses，four weeks being one course. After treatment，the clinical effect，and the scores of Index of Severity for Osteoarthritis(ISOA)，Western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC) and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) in the two groups were compared. Results：After treatment， the scores of ISOA， WOMAC and VAS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 98% in the treatment group，higher than that of 88% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：Bushen Huoxue Huayu prescription for mild knee osteoarthritis of liver-kidney depletion type has significant clinical effect，which can obviously reduce the scores of ISOA， WOMAC and VAS in the knee joint so as to improve the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis and further improve the clinical effect.
