Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of point application with Yiqi Tongfu powder on gastrointestinal function and immune indexes of patients after laparoscopic lower anterior rectectomy for rectal cancer(Dixon operation). Methods：A total of 67 cases of patients undergoing laparoscopic Dixon operation for rectal cancer were divided into two groups according to the random double-blind method. Based on routine treatment，the treatment group was additionally given point application with Yiqi Tongfu powder， and the control group was additionally given point application with placebo. Gastrointestinal function，T lymphocyte subsets(CD3+，CD4+，CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ )，immunoglobulin(IgA，IgG，and IgM)，albumin(Alb) and prealbumin(PA) in serum， incidence of adverse reactions， and hospitalization time were observed and compared between the two groups. Results：The recovery time of bowel sound，the time of the first anal exhaust and first defecation， indwelling duration of gastric canal， and hospitalization time in the treatment group were shorter than those in the control group，and drainage volume of gastric canal was less than that in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，indexes of T lymphocyte subsets，immunoglobulin levels，and levels of Alb and PA in serum in the two groups were better than those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the indexes and levels above in the treatment group were better than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05). Conclusion： Point application with Yiqi Tongfu powder can promote gastrointestinal function recovery of patients after laparoscopic Dixon operation for rectal cancer，improve nutritional status， and enhance immune function.
