Analysis of Effect of Hot Compress of Chinese Medicine and Moxibustion Combined with Routine Medical and Nursing Measures on Promoting Rehabilitation After Surgery of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Abstract:Objective:To observe the intervention effect of hot compress of Chinese medicine and moxibustion based on routine medical and nursing measures on promoting rehabilitation of patients with lumbar spinal stenosis(LSS) after decompressive laminectomy. Methods:A total of 108 cases of patients were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, 54 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with injection of ceftriaxone sodium, mannitol injection, and dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection for three days; both groups were also given comprehensive rehabilitation nursing measures. On the 2nd day after surgery, the observation group was additionally given intervention of hot compress of Chinese medicine and moxibustion;the intervention continuously lasted for ten days in the two groups. On the day after surgery and after ten- day treatment, pain degree was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),and the lumbar vertebra function was evaluated by Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA). The nursing satisfaction was evaluated when discharge. Postoperative residual symptoms including numbness in the lower limbs and pain in the lower back were recorded during three- month follow- up after surgery. Results: After treatment, the curative effect of improvement of the lumbar vertebra function in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05). VAS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and JOA scores were increased, differences being significant (P<0.01). VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and JOA score was higher, differences being significant(P<0.01). The nursing satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). On the 3rd month after surgery, the residual rate of numbness in the lower limbs was 12.96% in the observation group, lower than that of 29.63% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). On the 3rd month after surgery, the residual rate of pain in the lower back was 9.26% in the observation group, lower than that of 24.07% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on routine medical and nursing measures, the intervention of special nursing measures including hot compress of Chinese medicine and moxibustion on LSS patients after surgery can further relieve pain, improve the lumbar vertebra function, and reduce the residual symptoms including numbness in the lower limbs and pain in the lower back. Its clinical effect and nursing satisfaction were better than those of simple routine nursing measures after surgery.
