Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with hormonal replacement therapy for patients with perimenopausal syndrome. Methods: A total of 60 cases of patients with perimenopausal syndrome were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with full-dose femoston tablets(2 mg∶2 mg∶10 mg),and the observation group was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion combined with hormonal replacement therapy with half dosage of femoston tablets(1 mg∶ 1 mg∶ 10 mg). Both groups were treated for three courses, four weeks being a course. Before and after treatment, the changes in Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) scores, modified Kupperman scores and levels of luteinizing hormone(LH), follicle- stimulating hormone(FSH) and estradiol(E2) in the two groups were compared. Results: At four, eight and twelve weeks after treatment respectively, HAMD scores in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P< 0.05). At four, eight and twelve weeks after treatment respectively, modified Kupperman scores in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the changes in the levels of LH,FSH and E2 in serum in the two groups were not significant;the comparison between the two groups as well as before and after treatment showed no significance in the difference(P>0.05). Conclusion: Compared with the full- dose hormonal replacement therapy, the application of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with half-dose hormonal replacement therapy can significantly improvethe clinical symptoms of patients with perimenopausal syndrome. Though without advantage in the regulation of reproductive hormone levels.
