Abstract:Objective:To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at neck points and scalp acupuncture combined with acupuncture at selective points according to symptoms on depressive symptoms, sleep quality and somatic symptoms in patients with insomnia complicated with depression. Methods:The patients with insomnia complicated with depression who were in accordance with diagnostic criteria were divided into the acupuncture group and the medicine group according to the random number table method,35 cases in each group. The acupuncture group was treated with electroacupuncture at neck points and scalp acupuncture combined with acupuncture at selective points according to symptoms. The medicine group was treated with paroxetine hydrochloride and estazolam tablets. Before and after treatment,the scores of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Somatic Symptom Scale of the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ- 15) in the two groups were observed and compared. Results:The comparison of the total effective rates between the two groups showed significance in the difference (P<0.05). After treatment,the scores of HAMD,PSQI and PQH-15 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant (P<0.01). Before and after treatment,there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the changes in HAMD scores between the two groups(P>0.05);there were significant differences being found in the comparison of the changes in the scores of PSQI and PQH- 15 between the two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion: The therapy of electroacupuncture at neck points and scalp acupuncture combined with acupuncture at selective points according to symptoms for patients with insomnia complicated with depression has good curative effect,and can improve the accompanied somatic symptoms.
