Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of emotion nursing combined with point application with Chinese herbal medicine on mental status and adverse reactions in patients undergoing gastroscopy. Methods: A total of 150 cases of patients undergoing gastroscopy were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,75 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the observation group was given emotion nursing combined with point application with Chinese herbal medicine. Nursing satisfaction, incidences of adverse reactions and mental status in the two groups were compared. Results:The nursing satisfaction was 94.67% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 6.67% in the observation group, lower than that of 17.33% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of Self- rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Self- Rating Depression Scale(SDS) between the two groups(P>0.05). After intervention, the scores of SAS and SDS in the two groups were decreased when compared with before intervention, and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of emotion nursing combined with point application with Chinese herbal medicine for patients undergoing gastroscopy can improve their anxiety, depression and nursing satisfaction, and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.
