Abstract:Objective:To observe the curative effect of hot compress with Weixiong Zhentong powder at the neck in the treatment of cervicogenic headache(CEH) on a basis of routine oral administration of painkillers, tuina and bone- setting manipulation as well as nursing intervention. Methods:A total of 112 cases of CEH patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method,56 cases in each group. Both groups were given meloxicam tablets, tuina and bone-setting manipulation as well as comprehensive nursing measures. The observation group was additionally treated with hot compress with Weixiong Zhentong powder at the neck. Both groups were treated for two weeks. Before treatment and after two-week treatment, the degree of pain was evaluated by Number Rating Scale(NRS); scores of cervical range of motion(ROM) were evaluated;the duration of headache, and the weekly frequency of headache were recorded. The clinical effect was evaluated in the two groups. Results:After two-week treatment, the clinical effect in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05). The scores of NRS for pain and ROM in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, the duration of headache shortened, and the weekly frequency of headache reduced, the difference being significant(P<0.01). The scores of NRS for pain and ROM in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01),the duration of headache shorter(P<0.01),and the weekly frequency of headache lower(P<0.01). Conclusion:On a basis of routine oral administration of painkillers, tuina and bone-setting manipulation as well as nursing intervention, the therapy of hot compress with Weixiong Zhentong powder at the neck can further decrease pain degree of CEH patients, reduce seizure of headache, improve cervical range of motion, and enhance clinical effect.
