Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Zhuyu Tongbi tang combined with glucosamine hydrochloride tablets for osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Methods：A total of 68 cases of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee joint were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group， 34 cases in each group. The control group was given glucosamine hydrochloride tablets，and the treatment group was additionally given Zhuyu Tongbi tang based on the treatment of the control group. After three- week treatment， the clinical effect was evaluated in the two groups. The changes in Chinese medicine syndrome scores and levels of inflammatory factors including interleukin- 10(IL-10)，interleukin-6(IL-6)， and serum tumor necrosis factor- α(TNF- α) before and after treatment were observed and compared in the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 97.06% in the treatment group，and 85.29% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment， Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)， and the score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，when compared levels of TNF- α，IL- 10，and IL- 6 between the two groups， there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). After treatment， levels of serum TNF- α， IL-10，and IL-6 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)，and the levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： In the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee joint， the therapy of Zhuyu Tongbi tang combined with glucosamine hydrochloride tablets has a defined curative effect，which can relieve clinical symptoms and improve levels of inflammatory factors.
