Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Yiqi Yangyin method on quality of life of patients with advanced lung cancer of qi-yin deficiency type. Methods：A total of 78 cases of patients with advanced lung cancer of qi-yin deficiency type were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method， 39 cases in each group. The control group was given routine western medicine treatment，and the observation group was additionally given Shashen Maimendong tang based on the treatment of the control group. Chinese medicine syndrome scores， levels of serum cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone， quality of life， and survival condition were compared between the two groups. Results：Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Chinese medicine syndrome scores between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，Chinese medicine syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the scores in the observation group were lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment， when compared levels of serum cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone between the two groups， there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). After treatment，levels of serum cortisol in the two groups were significantly increased，but the increase in the observation group was more significant； levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone in the two groups were significantly decreased， but the decrease in the observation group was more significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of each score of quality of life between the two groups(P＞0.05). After treatment，scores of physical function， emotional function， cognitive function， role function， and social function in the two groups were significantly increased，but the increase in the observation group was more significant(P＜0.05). The median survival time was 15 months (95%CI： 13.57~16.43 months) in the control group， shorter than that of 21 months(95%CI： 18.41~23.59 months) in the observation group， differences were significant(P＜0.05). Conclusion： For patients with advanced lung cancer of qi- yin deficiency type，the therapy of Yiqi Yangyin method combined with routine western medicine can significantly improve their Chinese medicine syndrome scores， enhance their quality of life， increase content of serum cortisol， reduce level of adrenocorticotropic hormone，and prolong survival time.
