Abstract: Objective: To observe the value of rhubarb in the treatment of constipation caused by postoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer. Methods:A total of 96 patients with constipation caused by postoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer were selected as the research objects and divided into the control group and the study group according to random number table method,48 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, and the study group was additionally given external application of rhubarb based on the treatment of the control group. The defecation time, incidence of adverse reactions, score of the 36- Item Short From Health Survey(SF- 36) and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results:The first defecation time in the study group was shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was 4.17%,lower than that of 16.67% in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the comparison of the scores of physiological function, physical pain, health status, social function and mental health between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, the above scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of rhubarb has a significant effect on constipation caused by postoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer, which can promote defecation, reduce adverse reactions, improve the quality of life, with high patient satisfaction.
