Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of catgut embedment in point for simple obesity of spleen deficiency with dampness obstruction type concomitant with dyslipidemia. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with simple obesity concomitant with dyslipidemia were selected and divided into the group of catgut embedment in point and the routine needling group according to the random number table method, 30 cases in each group. One case discontinued the study halfway in the group of catgut embedment in point. Finally,29 cases were enrolled in the group of catgut embedment in point and 30 cases in the routine needling group. The group of catgut embedment in point was given catgut embedment in point, and the routine needling group was given routine needling therapy. Body mass index(BMI), waist circumference, hip circumference, and subcutaneous fat thickness around the umbilicus before and after treatment were compared in the two groups. Levels of total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), low- density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL- C), and high- density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),as well as score of the Impact of Weight on Quality of Life-Lite(IWQOL-Lite) Questionnaire were compared in the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, and subcutaneous fat thickness around the umbilicus in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05);BMI and waist circumference in the group of catgut embedment in point were smaller than those in the routine needling group(P<0.05); there were no significant differences being found in the comparison of hip circumference and subcutaneous fat thickness around the umbilicus between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, levels of TC,TG,and LDL-C in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the three levels in the group of catgut embedment in point were lower than those in the routine needling group(P<0.05); levels of HDL- C in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),there being no significance in the difference between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, scores of IWQOL- Lite in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the score in the group of catgut embedment in point was lower than that in the routine needling group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: For patients with simple obesity of spleen deficiency with dampness obstruction type concomitant with dyslipidemia, catgut embedment in point can significantly decrease BMI and level of blood lipid, narrow their waist circumference and hip circumference, reduce intraabdominal fat,and improve quality of life.
