Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of heat- clearing and dampness- removing method on muscle pain due to dengue. Methods:A total of 85 cases with muscle pain due to dengue were randomly divided into two groups. Fortytwo patients in the control group received symptomatic supportive treatment, and forty- three patients in the study group was additionally given heat- clearing and dampness- removing method based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect and changes in the score of muscle pain, creatine kinase(CK) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of clinical effect was 93.02% in the study group and 88.10% in the control group, there being no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05);There is significant difference in the comparison of the recovery rate between the two groups. After treatment, the score of muscle pain and levels of CK and LDH in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the score of muscle pain and levels of CK and LDH in the study group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: Heat- clearing and dampness- removing method is effective to treat muscle pain due to dengue, which can relieve the symptoms of muscle pain.
