Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Sanhan Chushi tang combined with warming acupuncture and moxibustion for lumbar disc herniation of cold- damp type. Methods:A total of 103 patients with lumbar disc herniation of cold- damp type were selected and divided into the study group(52 cases) and the control group(51 cases) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with lumbar traction, and the study group was additionally treated with Sanhan Chushi tang combined with warming acupuncture and moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The effect of clinical effect, lumbar function, pain degree and pressure pain threshold(PPT) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. The vital signs of the two groups before and after treatment were monitored, and adverse reactions were recorded. Results:The clinical effect in the study group was better than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P<0.05). After treatment, the score of Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) and the level of PPT in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05); the score of visual analogue scale(VAS) was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the comparison of the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Sanhan Chushi tang combined with warming acupuncture and moxibustion for lumbar disc herniation of cold-damp type, can effectively improve the lumbar function of patients, relieve pain, and has great safety.
