Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture therapy combined with routine comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for patients with stroke hemiplegia. Methods:A total of 71 cases of patients with stroke hemiplegia were divided into the control group and the study group according to the random number table method,35 and 36 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with routine comprehensive treatment including medication, constraint- induced movement therapy and routine rehabilitation exercise therapy;the study group was additionally treated with acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment, the scores of China Stroke Scale (CSS),National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Motor Function(FMA),Barthel Index (BI),Holden Functional Ambulation Category Scale(FAC) and Berg Balance Scale(BBS) in the two groups were evaluated and compared. Results: Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of CSS and NIHSS between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of CSS and NIHSS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of FMA,BI,FAC and BBS between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of FMA,BI,FAC,BBS in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy combined with routine comprehensive rehabilitation treatment for stroke hemiplegia can improve the motor function of limbs in patients with stroke, and enhance their self- care ability as well as walking and balance ability, whose curative effect is superior to that of simple routine comprehensive rehabilitation treatment.
