Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Qingre Liyan prescription combined with routine western medicine for acute suppurative tonsillitis of intense lung- stomach heat type. Methods： A total of 93 cases of patients with acute suppurative tonsillitis of intense lung- stomach heat type were selected as the study subjects and were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， 48 and 45 cases in each group respectively. The control group was given routine western medicine，and the treatment group was additionally treated with Qingre Liyan prescription as a adjuvant therapy based on the treatment of the control group. After seven-day treatment，the clinical effect in the two groups was evaluated. Results：The total clinical effective rate was 95.83% in the treatment group， higher than that of 82.22% in the control group(P＜0.05). The disappearance time of symptoms and signs in the treatment groups was earlier than that in the control group(P＜0.05). When compared with those in the same group before treatment， each Chinese medicine syndrome score，as well as count of neutrophilic granulocyte and white blood cell after treatment in the two groups was decreased(P＜0.05). After treatment， each Chinese medicine syndrome score， as well as count of neutrophilic granulocyte and white blood cell in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion：In the treatment of acute suppurative tonsillitis of intense lung-stomach heat type，the therapy of Qingre Liyan prescription combined with routine western medicine has better clinical effect than that of simple western medicine treatment. It can promote the remission of clinical symptoms and relieve inflammatory reactions.
